A Q&A With Sabrina Sol & A Gift Card Giveaway

Are any of you Romance readers?

It’s not the genre I typically go for, but over the last several weeks I have decided to venture into this genre discreetly and have enjoyed the couple of books I’ve read. I must admit, Romance is fun! I totally get the appeal.

If you are a Romance lover, then let me introduce you to Sabrina Sol, author of the Delicious Desires series and other steamy romance novels. Read my interview below and be sure to enter the $10 Amazon Gift Card giveaway that Sabrina has graciously hosted.

Q&A With Sabrina Sol

What do you love about writing Romance?

I love the idea that anyone can find his or her Happily Ever After and that there truly is someone for everyone. Sure, I might make them work for it, but my couple will always end up together by the last page. I really do love.

Out of all the books/series you’ve written, do you have a favorite? What makes it your favorite?

This is a hard question! I love all my stories and there are different reasons why. So I’ll just pick the last book I wrote – Delicious Complication. The reason I love this one is because it’s about a fake engagement. This is one of my most favorite tropes because I love the idea of something pretend turning into something real. Plus the hero talks sexy—in Spanish!

What are the upsides and downsides to being an author?

There are so many upsides that I don’t think I can list them all here. For sure though, the number one upside is that I’m living my dream. I’ve wanted to be an author since I probably learned how to write the alphabet. Not many people can say they grew up to be exactly who they wanted to be when they were a kid. One of the other huge upsides is that I’ve met so many wonderful and interesting people in this industry. Plus I’ve made some lifelong friends who are also authors and I truly can’t imagine doing this without their support and love.

Probably the only downside is the vulnerability of opening yourself up to possible criticism or disappointment. As an author, you have to learn to accept the fact that not everyone is going to love your story as much as you do. It can be a tough pill to swallow some days. But you do it because for every person who hated every single word you wrote, there’s someone else who loved them all.

Do you write yourself into any of your books/characters?

I think it would be hard not to! While my characters aren’t exactly mirrored reflections, they definitely each have a little piece of my personality, quirks, fears, loves and hates.

Who are some Romance authors that we should be reading?

If you’re looking for diverse heroines and heroes, I highly recommend the following: Mia Sosa, Kaia Danielle, Mia Hopkins, Alisha Rai, Rebekah Weatherspoon, Nikki Prince and Louisa Bacio.

What are you working on now?

I’m in edits right now for book #3 of my Delicious Desires series with Entangled Brazen. It’s called Delicious Satisfaction and it’s about a Puerto Rican chef who finally meets her match in the bedroom and it just so happens to be her brother’s sexy attorney. Like the other books in the series, there’s lots of food, family drama and HOT sex scenes.

    1. lol, valid question! Yes, I bought a couple of Kindle romance books but haven’t talked about it on social media. That’s mostly what I mean. I’m just enjoying them privately :p
I’m reading #ownvoices gay romance, btw.

  1. I’m also not much of a romance reader, but every once in a while I think I should dip into it more. There is so much variety.

Also, Naz, you are doing such a fantastic job with all your Latinx heritage month content! You must have worked so hard to get all of this together.

    1. There really is a lot of variety in it, I have found. I’m sure you could find one book you’d love in the genre, but of course, it’s your right to read or not read whatever you’d like!

Thanks, Shay! 😀 Yes, I worked quite a bit to put this together and there’s more work to be done. But I do this because I love it.

  2. I’m a cheesy romance reader from waaay back-#NoShame-lol I’m glad that you found some enjoyable. Romance books are pure escapism, there is truly something for everyone in the genre. I hope that you keep having good luck in your dabbling!

  3. Not a huge romance reader, but I do enjoy reading one once in a while ( need to go back and re-read Jade Lee tigress series…) romances I love in particular are white female/ non white male 🙂 is this something to fit my bill out of curiosity? Or not really?

  4. It’s awesome that you’re featuring romance, Naz. I read my first (what I consider) romance novel this year and enjoyed it. It was fun. I’ll definitely try more and want to try some #ownvoices authors of romance. Thanks for putting Sabrina Sol on my radar!

    1. I’m really trying to be as open-minded as possible in the genres I read. For romance, though, I’m definitely going the gay #ownvoices romance route first. Most books I read already have heterosexual relationships, so I don’t need that in my romance novels. No offense to any writers of heterosexual romance, though. It’s just a preference!

  5. I love that you are exploring new genres, Naz. I personally find that I struggle to break into new genres because I’m so uneducated that I often pick a dud for a first book. That’s a shame. But hopefully, I can break into Romance eventually, too.

Thanks for sharing your opinions, Sabrina! It sounds like you have a *ton* of ideas waiting to be written down. I also love the fake relationship troupe! Maybe your books are the key I’ve been missing to connect me to Romance as a genre? Let’s find out! 🙂

Let's start a discussion!
